"When I returned home after working with Kathy, my riding instructor immediately noticed a huge improvement in my seat, posture and confidence level. She said, "I don't know what you did at that class, but I want to learn it, too!!" And I accomplished all that OFF the horse! Thanks for all the incredible insights, Kathy!"

"Using Kathy's process was a breakthrough for me. Kathy taught me a process to release my anxiety about challenging situations and be fully present with my horse. Thank you for the tools to create a new kind of relationship and connection with myself and others."
—Kathy N, Lethbridge, Canada

"Thank you for the info on your worksheets! They are exactly what I need to help me "center" and "calm" myself before going to the ranch and while riding!!! Finally I have information to help myself become a more confident, trusting rider and leader for Lyra! For the past few years I knew what I needed to work on---I just didn't know how to attain my goals. Thank you, Kathy, for all your help!!!"

I will always be deeply affected by the Round Pen Sessions. When I went home, I went up to the stalls where we are keeping four mares, one is, "Chilly." She is three years old and has spent all of her life (up until last fall) out on the range with a herd of broodmares who were never handled either. She is so 'untamed' that if you try and touch her, the skin over her whole body ripples, trying to get away from your touch! I went up to the mare's stalls to do chores and feed, but I was still feeling some emotions moving through me from the program, all I could do was stand in the stall and hug and lean against the first horse I touched. As I stood next to a horse names Alli, petting her and letting tears run down my face, I noticed Chilly was right up against the fence withher head as far over into Alli's stall as she could get it, with this intense, longing expression on her face. She was practically begging me to reach out and touch her. Chilly was so uncharacteristically connected with what I was doing and I felt this strong 'pull' coming from her, so I took a couple of steps toward her and slowly reached out my hand towards her pretty head. I felt like she was a magnet drawing me in. When my fingers touched her forehead, not only did she not flinch or pull back, but she actually pushed her head further into my hand as if she was saying, "Yes, this is what I want. Now I am ready." I stood there and softly stroked her face and ears and neck, and could feel her opening up to my presence and connecting with me. It was an amazing moment and a huge break-through in our relationship. Ever since that afternoon, she accepts my touch and looks forward to the little handfuls of fresh grass I pick for her before I enter her stall (she would never before take food or treats from my hand either!). I look forward to the days when she and I can ride in the meadows and breathe the fresh mountain air together! So thank you, and thank you to your wonderful apprentices who facilitated such a wonderful program.

Sample Story

In 2004 I traveled to Calgary, Canada. I was invited to work with riders using my Mind Body Method (MBM) Coaching process. My host and I were stunned at how quickly the relationship transformed when I coached the rider. In one case a mare had a short stride and seemed blocked in her right front shoulder. She looked very uncomfortable with the rider on her back. The rider complained that she felt a lack of connection with her mare. As I coached the rider through the MBM she released energy locked in her right shoulder from a previous accident she has had with her horse (she had broken her collar bone).

She practiced the MBM tools and then rode her horse around the arena again. Her horse's stride lengthened and she reported more flow and connection had returned. I could see the change in both of their bodies as they moved with more ease. (You may read the full story in Kathy's book "Hope...From the Heart of Horses" due out spring 2009)

The Benefits of working with Kathy:

How did Kathy come to do this work?

Kathy came into this body of work through her own path of healing from an accident with a horse. To become a confident rider she had to learn how to control her mind and emotions as she returned to riding. Through continually practicing her Four Steps to the Present and the MBM she released fears based in the past and was able to move forward with more confidence.

Kathy offers extensive training and experiences in body awareness techniques from her past as a massage therapist and polarity therapist. She is an avid yoga practitioner and her first book was about integrating energy through working with the chakra system. Her eight years as a life coach provides a solid foundation for empowering individuals to move beyond their limitations and blocks to success while integrating mind, body and spirit.
